Since 2008, FORK has been providing comprehensive printing services focused on quality, efficiency, and modern digital technologies. Recognizing the growing importance of sustainability in manufacturing, the company is committed to improving the energy efficiency of its operations, including the use of advanced digital printing equipment.
A major milestone was the installation of a photovoltaic system in 2023. Building on this investment, the company implemented an EENergy-funded project to acquire a battery energy storage system, enabling the efficient storage and use of surplus solar energy generated on-site.
More efficient use of renewable energy sources
Thanks to the new battery storage system, FORK is able to store approximately 10 kWh of surplus solar energy each day, which is then used to power its operations instead of drawing electricity from the grid. With the building's average daily electricity consumption of approximately 49.3 kWh, this solution reduces grid electricity consumption by more than 20%, significantly improving the company's overall energy efficiency.
The project has not only reduced operating costs but also increased the company's energy independence and enabled more efficient use of renewable energy sources. It also supports FORK's long-term commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and integrating sustainable solutions into its day-to-day manufacturing operations.
The role of BIC Bratislava and the Enterprise Europe Network
BIC Bratislava played a key role in helping FORK secure funding by providing expert advice and guidance throughout the preparation of the company's EENergy grant application.
This collaboration demonstrates how the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) supports small and medium-sized enterprises not only in internationalisation and innovation but also in implementing measures that improve energy efficiency and promote sustainable business practices.
